Internship Positions:
NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Campus Representative/Organizer
Year-Long Internship Available for the Academic Year!

NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri is looking for a responsible, dedicated, resolutely pro-choice student to fill the position of NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Campus Representative/Organizer (CRO) who will educate their fellow students about the importance of reproductive rights issues.

Responsibilities:
• Work with NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri staff to develop and implement a seven-month grassroots organizing plan and establish goals that will include: measurable outcomes, appropriate data tracking, volunteer recruitment and retention;

• Plan for and implement campus-based events or activities for:

National Young Women’s Day of Action (October 23);
Anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision (January 22);
National Day of Appreciation for Abortion Providers (March 10);
House Parties/Choice Celebrations (at least one per semester);

• Conduct educational outreach activities about relevant choice issues on campus including, but not limited to, tabling events, job/volunteer fairs, campus rallies, etc.;

• Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies for NARAL Pro-Choice America’s Choice Action Network (CAN);

• Track and report anti-choice activities on campus;

• Work with students, faculty, staff, and appropriate student and community groups to generate interest in choice issues and to establish a NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri/NARAL Pro-Choice America presence on campus;

• Report data collected from campus organizing work to the NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri staff through regularly scheduled phone calls, as well as through e-mail and fax;

• Find a replacement CRO at the end of the internship;

• Perform other duties as they arise.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of and strong commitment to pro-choice and reproductive rights issues and NARAL Pro-Choice America/NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri’s mission and goals;

• Knowledge and understanding of campus life, active student organizations, and university policies regarding campus organizing or activism;

• Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of projects simultaneously;

• Ability to produce concrete results with off-site supervision;

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills;

• Ability to provide own local transportation is a plus.

Details:
This internship begins in August and lasts through the academic year. The internship is based on your college campus. The Campus Representative/Organizer is asked to dedicate an average of 5 hours a week to the position and to document daily activities. Internships with NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri provide an excellent opportunity to build your resume while gaining valuable experience with a non-profit advocacy organization. NARAL Pro-Choice America Foundation/NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri will work with your school to ensure academic credit where applicable.

Summer Community Organizing Intern
Internship consists of:
    Working to develop and implement community organizing campaigns in various communities;

    Assist in planning and leading meetings and events for the St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield and Columbia regions;

    Building and maintaining a list of pro-choice activists from across the state;

    15-20 hours in and out of the NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri office; and

    Other responsibilities as they arise.


Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to protecting reproductive rights and enthusiasm for working in diverse communities. Applicants should be prepared to work with other interns and staff on a regular basis.

This is an unpaid internship. Academic credit may be arranged with your college or university.

Summer Development Intern

NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri, the state's largest grassroots pro-choice organization, has been working to protect choice for over 35 years.

Our mission is to develop and sustain a constituency that uses the political process to guarantee every woman the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion.

As the political arm of the pro-choice movement, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri is dedicated to electing more pro-choice legislators to the state house and senate.

Internship Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with obtaining and tracking acquisitions for Gala & Auction
  • Assist with tracking RSVPs for Gala & Auction
  • Donor contact via phone
  • Donor research
  • Database management
  • 15-20 hours in and out of the NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri office
  • Other development related tasks as needed

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to reproductive freedom and women’s right to choose
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel with additional Microsoft Access experience preferred

Summer Online Advocacy Intern

· Keep affiliate website current with latest choice-related news and affiliate activities

· Update “Current Legislation” section of website when General Assembly is in session

· Track website visitor statistics and communicate effective strategies to staff

· Monitor news services and blogs for latest choice-related news

· Drive traffic to affiliate website using social-networking tools, such as Facebook and Twitter

· 15-20 hours in and out of the NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri office

· Other related tasks as needed

Qualifications:

· Commitment to reproductive freedom and women’s right to choose

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel

· Working knowledge of HTML; Dreamweaver experience preferred

Summer Outreach and Education Intern

    Coordinating and staffing outreach activities and events for the St. Louis Choice Action Team (CAT);

    Tabling and petition signature gathering for NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri at events and in various communities;

    Educating others about threats to reproductive rights in Missouri;

    Working with staff to develop a plan to reach out to underrepresented communities and communities of color to engage individuals in the pro-choice movement in Missouri;

    15-20 hours weekly in and out of the NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri office;

    and other responsibilities as they arise.


Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to protecting reproductive rights and enthusiasm for working in diverse communities. Applicants should be prepared to work with other interns and staff on a regular basis.

Summer Political Intern
As the political arm of the pro-choice movement, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri is dedicated to electing more pro-choice legislators to the state house and senate.

The responsibilities of the Political/Elections Intern are:

    Assist the Political/Field Associate and the Political Action Committee in planning and executing independent expenditure campaigns to turn out pro-choice voters in targeted districts;

    Work with pro-choice candidates;

    Assist the Political Action Committee in raising funds;

    Assist with office responisbilities-data entry, web maintainance, etc.; and

    Other responsibilities as they arise.


This is an unpaid internship. Class credit may be arranged with your college or university.
