· Cosponsored the Compassionate Assistance for Rape Emergencies (CARE) Act, HR 464, which ensures that hospital emergency rooms provide sexual-assault victims with emergency contraception upon request.
· Cosponsored the Prevention First Act, which offers an innovative approach to reducing unintended pregnancies by providing comprehensive access to all forms of contraception and sex education.
· Cosponsored the Repairing Women's Lives Around the World Act. The legislation provides $34 million to UNFPA strictly for the prevention, treatment and repair of obstetric fistula.
· Cosponsored PATHWAY (Prevention Against Transmission of HIV for Women and Youth) Act, which requires the President to establish a comprehensive and integrated HIV prevention strategy to address the vulnerabilities of women and girls and strikes the requirement that at least one-third of HIV prevention funds be spent on abstinence-until-marriage programs.
· Cosponsored HR 1225, the Focus on Family Health Worldwide Act, which aims to strengthen US support for voluntary international family planning.
· Cosponsored the International Women's Health and Dignity Act. The bill authorizes funding for the UN Population Fund [UNFPA] for its highest priority initiatives targeted to helping women and babies in developing countries.
· Cosponsored HR 1653, the REAL Act. The Responsible Education About Life (REAL) Act provides funding for comprehensive sex education programs.
· Cosponsored HR 2064, the Compassionate Care for Servicewomen Act. Currently, dispensation of Emergency Contraception (EC) to military women is determined by each individual facility. HR 2064 would place EC on a list of drugs that MUST be included at all military facilities.
· Cosigned a letter to the Appropriations Committee requesting funding for Title X, the nation's family planning program, at $385 million.
· Cosponsored the Unintended Pregnancy Reduction Act, which would require states to extend coverage for Medicaid family planning services to women who would be entitled to services if they were to become pregnant. Expansion of services would reduce unintended pregnancies and abortions and would save money.
· Cosponsored HR 1964, the Freedom of Choice Act. This bill protects a woman's freedom to choose to bear a child or terminate a pregnancy, consistent with Roe v. Wade.
