Govenor Blunt Launches Task Force on How Abortion Affects Women
Please read the details in The Joplin Globe and NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri's open letter to Govenor Blunt, below: October 29, 2007 The Hon. Matt Blunt Office of the Governor Room 216, State Capitol Jefferson City, MO 65101 RE: Task Force on the Effects of Abortion on Women Dear Governor Blunt: We read with interest about your appointment of a task force to study the effects of abortion on women. NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Foundation serves as a research and training agent on health and policy issues related to women’s reproductive health. We are aware of a great many credible studies that have been published in leading peer-reviewed scientific journals. We are happy to assist in making citations to that vast body of objective, non-ideological research available to your task force. NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Foundation also stands ready to send formal representatives to the task force. We would appreciate an invitation to serve as a member of your task force and to send a representative to participate in its deliberations, compilation of source materials, and ultimate findings of fact. Please let us know what we can do to assist in this endeavor, so that Missourians will glean true, scientifically accurate information about an issue that is unfortunately too often a subject of propaganda and political posturing. Sincerely, Pamela L. Sumners, Esq. Executive Director
