March For Women's Lives Makes History!
On April 25th, the largest and most diverse coalition of Americans, 1.15 million in total, gathered in Washington, D.C. to protest the government's erosion of a woman's right to choose. It was a true testament to what so many of us already knew: the majority of Americans are pro-choice!
NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri was not only there in name, by virtue of being a co-sponsoring organization for the March, we were there in great numbers as well. Nearly every member of our Affiliate and Foundation Boards was there, as well as its PAC. Our entire staff was there, and countless numbers of our major donors, lead activists and members.
At NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri, we worked for nine months in coalition to mobilize 2,500 pro-choice Missourians to the March. As a result of the Missouri March For Choice Coalition fundraising efforts, approximately 50% of the 7 buses that traveled from St. Louis were filled with students and people with limited incomes. We are enormously proud of our role in making sure that these pro-choice Missourians could afford to make the trip and march by our sides.
Though the day was hugely successful, it is only a beginning. When we returned, we rested, we celebrated, and then we got back to work. We hope you will join us in this work.
