Board Announces Opposition To Federal Marriage Amendment And To Efforts To Amend Missouri Constitution To Ban Same-Sex Marriage
Citing the attempt to amend the U.S. Constitution and Missouri Constitution to ban same-sex marriages as a clear violation of the fundamental American right to privacy, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri's Affiliate Board announced its opposition to the Federal Marriage Amendment and Missouri Amendment 2 (seeking to ban marriage between anyone other than a man and a woman).
NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri is the leading state advocate of personal privacy and a woman’s right to choose and has been fighting to protect and defend the right of individuals to be free from government interference in the private areas of their lives for more than thirty-five years.
It is well established that the U.S. and Missouri Constitution protects individual’s decisions about marriage, procreation, contraception and family relationships. NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri opposes national and state efforts to divide the country by urging adoption of Constitutional amendments to deny any Americans the right to make personal, private decisions related to their sexuality. We are proud to stand side by side our colleagues in the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community to oppose this outrageous proposal.
Missouri Amendment 2 is on the ballot for a vote in the August 3rd primary.
