NARAL PRO-CHOICE MISSOURI HITS THE STREETS FOR JANE BOGETTO: COMMON SENSE CANDIDATE FOR STATE HOUSE 94
St. Louis, MO—Throughout the month of October and into November, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri, the state’s largest grassroots political organization dedicated solely to reproductive rights, will be working to elect Jane Bogetto (D-Kirkwood) State Representative House District 94. Bogetto is a pro-choice candidate endorsed by NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri and its PAC.
NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Executive Director, Pamela Sumners emphasized the need for more “common sense” in Jefferson City, citing the recent work of the special legislative session which finished up by passing sweeping restrictions on abortion while voting down bills that would have provided family planning services that demonstrably reduce unintended pregnancies. “It simply doesn’t make any sense to waste the taxpayers’ money on blatantly unconstitutional legislation that does nothing to actually reduce unintended pregnancies or abortions in Missouri,” said Sumners. “Missourians deserve a state government that uses common sense when passing laws. If you want to reduce abortions, it just makes sense to work to prevent unintended pregnancies. Policies like sex education, family planning, and access to contraceptives work. Policies that deny women access to safe, legal abortions only endanger women’s health by forcing them into dangerous situations, and everyone knows they do not prevent abortions.”
In an attempt to bring some common sense to the Missouri General Assembly, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri has endorsed Jane Bogetto for state house district 94. District 94 includes Kirkwood as well as parts of Des Peres and Webster Groves. “Jane Bogetto has common sense. Jane Bogetto will support policies that actually reduce unintended pregnancies in Missouri, without endangering women’s health,” stated Sumners. Over the coming weeks NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri will activate dozens of volunteers, work phone banks and canvasses, and send out direct mail to its network of thousands of identified pro-choice voters in house district 94.
