NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Celebrates Victory in HD 94
(St. Louis, MO) Last night, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri, Missouri's largest statewide organization dedicated solely to reproductive choice celebrated the victory of pro-choice candidate Jane Bogetto in Missouri House District 94 which includes Kirkwood and parts of Des Peres and Sunset Hills.
Reproductive rights played a significant role in the victory of Jane Bogetto, who ran a solidly pro-choice campaign. Her opponent, Moira Byrd ran anti-choice in a district that houses a large number of pro-choice voters. "We are proud to have worked for Jane Bogetto's election," said Pamela Sumners, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri. "This campaign is yet another example of Missourians rejecting the out of touch policies of the Blunt administration and his anti-choice cronies in Jefferson City. You can expect us to continue and expand our work to elect pro-choice candidates in 2006."
NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri has over 700 activists and members in HD 94 and thousands more identified pro-choice voters. During an independent expenditure campaign for Bogetto, NARAL turned out the pro-choice vote by sending over 2000 pieces of direct mail, phoning over 2000 pro-choice voters, and contributing dozens of volunteers to canvasses and get-out-the-vote efforts.
"We couldn't have worked harder to elect Jane Bogetto,” said Sumners. "We look forward to working with her next legislative session on common-sense, pro-choice legislation."
