Pamela Sumners, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri, issued the following statement regarding the announcement: “Perhaps Governor Blunt finally realized that Missouri voters had grown tired of his political attacks on women’s freedom and privacy. Even though Governor Blunt’s name will not be on the ballot in November, we will monitor whether he will continue to use state resources to undermine a woman’s right to choose. We are especially concerned about the governor’s secret abortion task force and what it could mean for the future of reproductive freedom in Missouri. Blunt’s disastrous tenure is yet another reminder why Missourians must elect pro-choice candidates this November.” ###
