For Immediate Release: May 18, 2010 For more information, contact: Pamela Sumners at 314.531.8616 (office) or 312.213.1725 (cell) NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri is proud to announce its PAC's support of a slate of excellent pro-choice candidates running for office this year. NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri PAC is offering its highest level of support in the following candidates' races: Rep. James Morris (D HD58), Rep. Steve Webb (D HD74), Rep. Jeanne Kirkton (D HD91), Susan Carlson (D HD64), Doug Clemens (D HD77), Chyanne Lockhart Cardarella (D HD52), Clem Smith (D HD 71), and Geoff Gerling (D HD46). NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri PAC will also put boots on the ground or mail into the district for pro-choice advocates Rep. Stacey Newman (D HD 73), Rep. Hope Whitehead (D HD 57), Genise Montecillo (D HD66), Deb Lavender (D HD94), Scott Sifton (D HD96), Churie Spreng (D HD 76), Jean Peters-Baker (D - HD39), Bill Caldwell (D HD 29), David Liveoak (R HD131), and Ed Lockwood (D HD10). With the passage of another anti-choice bill that puts yet more obstacles in the way of women seeking safe and legal abortions, it is clear that we have to fight harder than ever to protect women's dignity and privacy in Missouri, said Pamela Sumners, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri. We plan to work hard for candidates who will use their time in Jefferson City to make real progress for Missouri, rather than continuing to restrict a woman's right to choose. We are confident that these candidates, once elected, will stand strongly beside Missouri's women. NARAL also has endorsed 100% pro-choice incumbents Sen. Jolie Justus (D S10), Rep. Chris Kelly (D HD24), Rep. Mary Still (D HD25), Rep. Mike Talboy (D HD37), Rep. Jason Holsman (D HD45), Rep. Jeanette Mott Oxford (D HD 59), Rep. Chris Carter (D HD61), Rep. Tishaura Jones (D HD63), Rep. Mike Colona (D HD67), Rep. Sharon Pace (D HD70), Rep. Bert Atkins (D HD75), Rep. Margo McNeil (D HD78), Rep. Rochelle Gray (D HD81), Rep. Jill Schupp (HD 82), Rep. Jake Zimmerman (D HD83), and Rep. Sam Komo (D HD90). Mixed-choice incumbents Rep. Vicki Englund (D HD85) and Rep. Charlie Norr (D HD137) also are recommended by NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri PAC over their opponents. NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri PAC raised and spent more money in 2008 than any other pro-choice organization in the state. Candidates endorsed by NPCM PAC won 80% of their 2008 primaries. Candidates to whom the PAC gave direct contributions won 2/3 of the time. NARAL's PAC also made a key difference through its endorsement and canvassing work in a pivotal 2008 Senate race that was won by less than 250 votes. Further endorsements may be announced at a later date if necessary. ###
